The Layouts Part 3

I've just realised that I never shared with you the rest of the Getaway layouts. The first one was such a great idea. On Friday night when we arrived we had a group photo taken and on Saturday morning there was a hybrid layout and a copy of the photo in our cropping space ready for us to work our magic!
This layout was done when I got home but with Getaway stash plus a few class left overs.
I used a resist technique with UTEE and paint mists.
This layout was a spare class kit that I bought. It was called 'Spiromania' and took me right back to my childhood with the Spirograph kit.

The shapes complimented the patterned papers beautifully.

Just a quick post to share a couple of layouts that I did for a failed DT attempt. Really pleased with these two.

Jakey with his 'Hair Like A Lego Man!'

Inspiration

I recently had to retrieve my Graphic Designer skills out of mothballs (thanks Sarah for helping me to find them!!) to create a sketch for an (unsuccessful) DT application. Rather than let my hardwork fester in a folder on my hard drive I thought I'd share the inspiration with you lovely people. Here is the sketch:
And here is the layout:
If you have a go, I'd love to see it, leave me a link. If I get a few in the next week or two, I might just find some goodies for my favourite one.
Enjoy xxxx

Coming To A Layout Near You!

Since I discovered Kirsty Wiseman's blog, I have longed for one of her gorgeous photo shoots so at the Getaway Clare and I jumped at the chance to have one. It was my birthday treat for Clare's 40th so we had some individual and some together. Here they are.....

And I loooooove Kirsty for being able to make me not look like a poorly snotty girl with a big spot on her cheek (cos that's what I was!!!)
So today....after a bit of a mad week of Birthday fun, puppy sitting, school, more school, nursery, uni, I am allowing myself a quiet morning of crafty fun, I have a stack of half finished projects to get through and a pile of new stash that I'm itching to get into. But mostly I am enjoying a restful morning because tomorrow I'm going to Cardiff to see PETER KAY, yay!!!! Incase you hadn't noticed I am a little bit excited!
Anyways, off to schedule a few posts cos I have a mountain of things to share with you!

The Layouts Part 2

The final class of Saturday was Helen's 'Dainty Doilies' the layout was dainty but the conversation not so.....it was amazing that any of us walked out with a completed layout!
Real doilies and ones cut from patterned paper.
We rollered paint over a doily to make this cool effect.
The first class of Sunday was by far my favourite of the whole weekend and wins the prize for best new technique! It was 'Artisan Moments' with Sam (again! I think by this point she thought I was stalking her!!)
I was completely chuffed that my photo went so perfectly. We used a great technique which involved opening and emptying a tea bag, placing the photo inside, covering with wax chips and ironing. It gives an incredible ethereal, tactile finish which I will definitely be experimenting with some more.
The final class of the weekend was 'Modern Twist' with Sam. The origami flowers were a little on the frustrating side but worth it in the end to get such a cool layout.
Also used some paper rolls which I love.
So that's the class layouts. I do have a couple more layouts from cropping time and Getaway stash so watch this space! xx

The Layouts Part 1

The sun came out so here are the first four class layouts.

The first class was 9pm on the Friday night, I thought I'd be too tired but Lorraine's gorgeous layout had me inspired and ready to go. It was called Pennant Pizzazz and featured these yummy scrummy Basic Grey Olivia papers which I'm glad to say there were lots of left overs from!
Saturday's first class was 'Home Wood Bound' with the lovely Sam Ball. I am a sucker for little houses and making them with wood veneer made them even more attractive so I just had to do this class.
It was mega versatile, I did Christmas photos but Clare did Easter!
I then stuck with Sam for her 'Mastering the Art' class.
The focus was on guilding which I thoroughly enjoyed.
I loved all the gorgeous details.
The third class of Saturday was 'Shimmerz me Timbers' with the hilarious Helen Miles. Originally it was a 6x12 class (with a bit of an overhang!) but I mounted mine on 12x12 to fit it in my album. The base of the layout was wood veneer which we painted with Shimmerz paints.
I will save the rest for another day! xxx

Fix

It's been a crazy busy week. Starting my placement, busy days at school, having a new boiler fitted, starting my birthday celebrations and all this on top of still feeling poorly. I have, however, still been very crafty. Unfortunately the light has been awful so I still haven't managed to take photos of my Getaway layouts, the forecast for tomorrow is ok so hopefully you won't have to wait too much longer to see the dozen or so pages I have to share with you.

For now, I will share with you my new stash fix from the Getaway shop. Firstly, there is the MASSIVE pile of bits that I had left over from the classes, I cannot believe how generous the kits were.
Then there was a spare class kit from a class that I didn't take but really wanted to do. I have already completed this layout and will share soon.
Next was Mix and Mend, I wasn't sure at first as I thought it seemed like it was already done for you but when I saw it I realised how versatile it could be. So I obviously had to get the stickers and alphas too!
We were some of the first people in the world to get the new Cosmo Cricket Circa 1934 range so I snapped up a couple of sheets.
When I saw these papers I knew they would be perfect for photos of our first choir performance at Christmas, so you won't see this used for a while yet. And what can I say about those rose brads, I just had to didn't I???
Some Lily Bee Christmas papers.
And then onto my big discovery of the weekend. I'd never really given Glitz a second glance before and apart from having the odd sheet in kits I'd never used it but when I saw the Hoopla line I had to have it and that wedding cake stamp will be perfect for the wedding album that I really should be doing a few more pages for!!
And I totally fell in love with the Scarlett range.
I was just drawn to these Lily Bee papers.
And some fabulously cute Thickers in colours I am hoping will go with my Christmas journal.
And finally some Elle's Studio journalling tags, I just love those woodgrain ones.
It was just so nice to do some real life stash shopping, I really enjoyed it but am kinda glad I can't do it more often!!
So today I am recovering from a night out with my best friends last night, it was totally worth the headache tho. Tomorrow I have to go shopping to replace my boots that I practically live in because the zip broke today, I need to make sure I'm all up together for uni on Monday and placement on Tuesday and then some friends are popping round to see me for my birthday, inbetween all that I HAVE to watch the GP and of course round off the day with the final ep of Downton Abbey, busy busy. Best get some sleep!

Oh and I'd best photograph those layouts too!!!

Where To Start????

Well what a weekend! I woke up on Friday morning full of a cold but raring to go. Our journey was so smooth taking a little over 2 hours and we arrived at the hotel about half one ish.
After a week of having no heating or hot water (other than the shower) I was desperate for a long soak in a nice hot bath so when I got the keys to my room that was the first thing I did. After that we had planned to just chill in our rooms but we were too excited and kept going for little wanders bumping into a few familiar faces on the way.

Finally it was the time we had been waiting for and we made our way into the crop room. There were some lovely treats waiting for us along with a very warm welcome. After a yummy meal it was time for our first class of the weekend (more about the classes later.) The shop opened at 11 ish (late night shopping heaven!!) and after a little rummage I went up for a fairly early night.

I barely slept a wink but the yummy breakfast soon had me feeling a little more human.
Saturday comprised of 4 more classes. This is Jackie A, Me and Clare in the first one....
Sam and Sheena with the first layout of the day which Sam did a fab job of teaching considering she had absolutely no voice!
The crop room....
Jenny, Chloe and Nat, online friends that I was really excited to finally meet.
My buddy Jackie who made me laugh so much! And by the way we didn't plan our matching outfits!
Then there was the final class of the day......Well what can I say..... a revelation from Sue that I couldn't possibly repeat here led to Helen using a Match of The Day style football analogy to explain something that handed me the biggest laugh of my life.
We were lucky enough to sit next to Candace, Jacqui and Sue B, who were absolutely lovely and such good fun.
I stayed up a bit later Saturday night and had a much better nights sleep so I felt much brighter on Sunday. The first class was my favourite of the whole weekend (will share that later) and was followed by a yummy carvery dinner and then our photo shoot with the lovely Kirsty Wiseman. I have to say it was almost a bit star struck, I've followed Kirsty's blog for ages and was so excited to meet her in real life!!!
Sunday really flew by and the last class was a quickie one before a goodbye from Janice and Lorraine.
It really was the best weekend. I met some truly lovely people. It was great to meet some of my online friends in real life, Jackie A (again!), Sue P (thanks for the throat sweets!), Jenny, Chloe, Nat, Sarah G, to name a few, it was great to put real faces to your avatars! It was also so nice to meet people who follow my blog, it really makes it worthwhile to know it is enjoyed.
All of the DT were fantastic, you guys are awesome and I learned something new from each and every one of you. And Janice and Lorraine (and the rest of the Abbletts) you are fantastic, you really know how to make people feel welcome and give them a great time, Thank you, thank you, thank you xxxxxxx
Back soon with the layouts and new stash. Thanks for sticking with me, waffling on!! xxx
