Thicko's

During today's birthday celebrations I decided I would take some photos of the May birthday peeps to use on my Yearbook page. As I've seen it done on other peoples blogs, I got out some Thickers and took these, but unfortunately my family cannot be sensible.......

Oh dear!!!

We had a fab BBQ this aft and the wine was flowing which is why Hannah looked like this.....And even though Kerrie wasn't drinking.....
I finally got around to taking the photo of my DT layout so I'll leave you with a sneak....
Oooh by the way, Rachel is doing a giveaway and the prize is something from her lovely shop

Happy Saturday

It's been a busy old week. Since having a really crafty start to the week I've barely had time to go near the craft room for more than half an hour since Tuesday. I have done my DT layout for the Butterfly Crafts 1st of the month challenge, I don't think I've ever left it so late but I am still not really in layout mode so I found it tough this month, it's done though and I am pleased with it, just need to photo it and send it to Karen in the morning.

Today I spent the morning with these dudes.....

Trendy Max and his brother.....

Elvis...or is it Jedward?? Or as I was calling him 'Jakeward!!' He asked me to help him with his humanities homework, which of course I was glad to, how many 13 year olds want to get on with their homework at the start of half term??? I then asked him what it was....should have asked before I committed myself...it was to make a story board/script or film about a famous discovery. So I spent the morning making a stop frame animation, using lego, about Sir Francis Drake discovering the potato! I shouldn't moan cos in actual fact we had a lot of fun, it was lovely to spend time doing something with him and I was so proud and amazed at his creativity (obviously he gets it from me!!!) Everyone was really impressed and agreed that if he doesn't get a merit his teacher is mad.

Mid afternoon I left him recording the voice overs, my Dad playing Sir Francis, and drove the 30 seconds down the road to my best friends house where I was welcomed with Scrambled egg on toast and a big cup of tea. After eating, then catching her up on the wedding gossip of my other best friend, we went to The Mall so I could get some birthday cards for the last birthdays of 'Birthday month' or as everyone else knows it, May. We had coffee and shared the most amazing Eclair in Patisserie Valerie and then she endured a quick visit to Hobbycraft. Well I couldn't be that close and not go in when I knew there was a sale on!! I'm glad I did cos I picked up some AC bargains!

3 packs of Thickers at £1.99 each and some gorgeous Jewel brads for £1.24 a pack. After a cuppa back at hers, a snuggle with Frank the labrador who had his friend Alfie the dalmation over to stay, and a bit of an tinternet session, I came home planning to have a crafty evening. But when I got home it all caught up on me and I was completely wiped out! So that was my day!

Tomorrow is my nephews 22nd birthday, Happy Birthday Wes, and Monday sees my Dad turn 63 so that will take up the next two days. After that it's half term which I will be spending in peace and quiet as the olds are away! I have another dress shopping trip planned, the new Sex and the City movie with the girls, baby snuggles at my cousins house and plenty of crafty time....heaven!

Wow, I've waffled on for ages! If you're still with me, thanks for reading!!

A DeLovely Book

In between soaking up the sun and al fresco eating, I have spent the last few days working on a couple of projects that I have been commissioned to do. The first is a baby book that my friend Kirsty bought for her neice and wanted customising to make it a bit more personal. Kirsty hasn't seen it yet and she does follow my blog so until I see her tomorrow, here are a couple of sneaks!

The second project is for a friends daughters 21st birthday next month. She gave me a pile of envelopes full of photos and I am working my way through them year by year. I made the book from scratch so I have plenty of freedom to expand etc. I am using Cosmo Cricket DeLovely which is so bright and funky, I chose it because it was girly but it turns out that Chloe was a bit of a tomboy when she was younger but actually the papers still work so it's all good! Anyway enough chat...here it is so far....

I stamped with white stazon and used white rub ons to decorate the acetate panel in the front cover.
The first page. The heart behind the polaroid photo is attached to a newspaper clipping with the birth announcement. Look how tiny she was!

In one of the envelopes was a lock of her hair from her first haircut so I made this dinky envelope to put it in.

I really like this little embellie.
A nice simple page.

I have done two more pages this evening but will share them soon. I am cracking on with this while I have the inspiration cos I don't want a loss of mojo to turn it into a drag!
Today was school photo day, luckily my hair went right this morning cos I was asked to be in the Foundation Stage and Year 1 pictures. The photos are really unusual, they are taken in small groups and then patched together to create a whole class shot, they are so nicely composed, such a shame I won't be able to share them with you. Can't wait to see them though!
Off to bed now.

It's Finished

I've finished my Paperbag book so I can share it with you now. It's a present for a friend so I have left spaces for her to add photos of her choice. Apologies for the photos being a little dark, I'm not feeling too good and didn't wanna move to find better light!

The front cover......
The first page has a pocket......
The second page........
Inside the pocket........

Inside the second pocket.....
And the back cover.......
Off for an early night.
Hope you like xxxx

Gogo Mad!

Yesterday was the day that the postman brought me my lovely box of Gogo goodies. This months kit is gorgeous, full of lovely 'Springy' colours and pretty embellies. I got stuck in immediately, it was a good way to ease the pre-dentist nerves! I did this layout, using mainly Crate Paper's Paper Doll collection....
So pretty and girly just like Mollie!
I couldn't wait to get onto my CJ, because of a drop out, I get all CJ's a month in advance and I have planned out exactly what I was gonna do. This one is about quotes so I had one lined up that fit just right with the theme of the kit, I ploughed straight in and was so happy with the result.....then I flicked back through the book only to realise the quote was already in it!! Luckily it is part of a list and I figure that I have kind of elaborated on it with the theme of my page so I really hope Jade doesn't mind! Anyway, here is a sneak....
Then a catch up with my Gogo yearbook, I have been keeping up but not with the photographing and uploading! So here are March and April's.....

Am off to Quiz Night in a bit....our performance has slid somewhat recently so I don't have high hopes but hey, it's an excuse to go to the pub and have a laugh!! Tomorrow Emma and I are off on a second dress shopping trip, can't wait, we had so much fun last week. Am hoping to look at some bridesmaid dresses too!!

Now That's More Like It

Now I'm on a roll...3 layouts in 2 days!! Yesterday was Scrapaholix and I really loved the kits, fabby MME papers and some really lovely chipboard letters and motif.

This first layout is about when we went to France, I was 9 and got really ill, I think it was just before I had my tonsils out. Anyway, my Dad went to the chemist and he seems to think that because he can't speak French, French people will understand him if he speaks English in a French accent! He told the chemist that his daughter 'Le Vomit!!!!'
I was really pleased with how it turned out, some bits were quite labour intensive but worth it in the end. I used this special foil stuff that I pinched from my sis (sorry don't know what it's called!)
I am pleased with the stamping and embossing around the edge, just adds another subtle detail.
The second one was a bit quicker and just kind of fell together from the left overs of the first!
The letters on this one were painted, inked for extra depth and then I piped stickles into each little polka dot. Not my idea though unfortunately, stolen from Marie but it looked so good on her layout I had to do it!
Then today I felt like using some more Thrift Shop and whilst on a vintage theme dug out an old photo album and found a load of pics of my Dad as a baby/child. I think this will be the first LO of many on this theme!
I was pleased that I managed to make it pretty without being girly! I made the hearts by cutting out chipboard shapes, spritzing them with my new Midnight blue shimmer mist and giving them a coat of glossy accents.
I also added some stamped detail and the date at the top.
Thanks for all your lovely comments about my Fly A Kite project, will be back with proper pics asap!
